User Guide

  1. Go to our web site: http://www.gsnewzealand.com This site is secured by a e-certificate, protecting any of your input by 128-bit encryption. You may receive a security alert about the e-certificate.
  2. Make sure you have switched off any pop-up blocking function, because our System will pop up new screen from time to time for your convenience.
  3. Click the icon that corresponds to your product.
  4. Type in your account number and password assigned to you by the Company. You can change your password any time after a successful log-in. If you are a trial user, you can log in our system and try the functions before actual trading by clicking the "Demo" tab in the log-in screen. Demo account has the same functionalities of a live account save that all trades in the demo account will be deleted after you have logged out.
  5. After successful login, you are now in the trading screen.

    It consists of the following areas:
      a. Top area is our company banner.You may find some useful information about our company and other related areas of your interest here.

      b. Below the banner is the Menu bar.You can access all supporting functions by pointing your cursor to the relevant tabs.Sub-tabs will appear for your further choice where applicable.Both Hong Kong time and New York time are displayed.All time logged inside the system is based on New York time.

      c. Below the Menu bar is the Quote window. Real-time prices will be quoted here for your products.For your convenience, it also shows, by product, the tradable number of contracts at that price and your default trade size, if any.

      d. On the right side is the Message area.It shows our communication with you for the day.You can also select simple confirmations of your actions in this Message area by choosing your preference under System/Options in the Menu bar.All the messages from us to you including margin calls will be sent to you via this area.The latest message will appear on top of your area.All the messages will be refreshed regularly but you can always get the latest messages by clicking the Refresh key.


      e. The Activities Window shows all the details of your account, including equity, balance, positions, open trades, closed trades and orders.You can open up any specific tab by clicking the subject of the tab in this window.
  6. To trade, click to your product and the correct buy/sell side. A pop-up window will appear with a live feed of tradable prices.These prices may differ from the prices published in the quote window, as these are the fastest feed for real trading available for a short period of time determined by us.If you do not trade within this period, the pop-up window will retreat. Your default trade size will appear, amend it if necessary. You have to input your login password to complete the trade instruction.If you choose not to input password every time you trade, you have to indicate this preference under the System/Options tab.

    A green box denotes a sell order/trade. A pink box denotes a buy order/trade.
  7. To set up an entry order with execution price, limit price and/or stop price, click Entry Order, then click Add New. The order/limit/stop must be set at least a certain number of pips away from the market price, as determined by us and advised to you. You must indicate to us your choice of duration of the order, be it good-for-day, good-for-week, or good-till-cancel.
  8. To see your open trades, click on the Open Trade tab on your Activities Window. It shows the essential details for each trade. For more detailed information of the trade, click on the trade ticket number. A new window will pop up to show all details. You can input your limit/stop price from there too, or close the position at market rate. The market profit/loss will be refreshed periodically at current market rates. This pop-up window will close automatically if you do not take any action within a designated period. This is to ensure you have a live feed of executable prices in such window.

  9. To see your closed trades for the day, click on the Closed Trade tab on your Activities Window.
  10. To see your open orders, click on the Entry Order tab on your Activities Window. You can click on the ticket number of an order in order to delete it or change the order prices. If you change the entry order price, limit price or stop price, the whole order will be validated again and your prices cannot be too close to the market prices, as if it is a new order. However, changing the order duration will not trigger such re-validation.
  11. To see your account summary, click on the Account Summary tab on your Activities Window. The balance is the cash balance of the account. Effective Equity is the balance plus any credit facility plus any market profit/loss plus any non-cash collateral value. Net Equity is the balance plus any market profit/loss. Realized P/L will be effected into your balance as soon as you closed the position. Margin rate is effective equity divided by the total aggregate contract value of open trades. This margin rate determines when you will be called to top up your margin deposit or when your positions may be closed out without further notice.

    Separate account details will be shown for forex and metals.


  12. To see your trading positions, click on the Position Summary tab on your Activities Window. It shows your average buy or sell price for each net position of a single product, interest to date and market profit/loss.

  13. To change your password, Click System/Password.

  14. To change default trade limit, click System/Default Trade.
  15. If you do not choose a specific trade to close, your open positions will be closed in an order chosen by you under System/Options. FIFO is first in first out. LIFO is last in last out.
  16. To inform us of your fixed IP address to connect to our system, enter your IP address under System/Options. If you enter a fixed IP address, you cannot log in via any IP address other than the specified one. This will raise your system security at the expense of convenience of mobility.
  17. To get your customer statement, click Report/Customer Statement. Enter the date of your desired statement and choose format of your statement. You can pick up your daily or monthly statement from here as long as it is within our retention period. The statement will be in PDF format. You can view the statement with any application that supports this format such as Acrobat Reader.
  18. To get information about our system, such as contract particulars, prevailing interest rates, currency conversion rates, click on INFO.
  19. You can choose your language at any time by clicking the appropriate language choice.
  20. To manage your margin between your metals account and the forex account, click System then Margin Transfer. To view your history of margin transfer, click View. To transfer from one account to another account , click Transfer. You can transfer any margin amount as long as the net equity of your account transferred out remains non-negative.




  21. To log out our system, click Log Out. For your system security protection, you are strongly recommended to properly log out the system rather than simply closing the window.
